SPIRITUALITY

 spirituality

“You can’t think of two things at the same time. When our focus is on Spiritual Values, it is impossible for is to have lower thoughts such as greed or anger.”

“The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth.”

Spiritual awakening meaning experiencing a spirit or in another words to experience its very nature and here nature meaning its actual nature or temperament. In simple words Nature of spirit which is nothing but what we are in true sense. It is all about how a human conducts himself with all other beings. It brings about the best in a person, hence it is what a person can be, given the burning or intense longing, determination and commitment for Inner Growth to realize the Mool within (Source, Origin, Jot…).

‘Spirit’ means essence or reality. To be spiritual means to know the facts, to live in Truth.

Spirituality is not at all organized religion. It is not about customs or rituals or beliefs. Spirituality is an awakened state of mind in which the mind really understands.

Spirit means essence or reality, and spirit gives life to all creatures. However, spirit is used metaphorically to refer to the “thoughts”, which are the breath which gives life to man’s humanity. Animal’s thoughts are ruled by instinct, but man can think anything, and what he thinks about is his spirit. If one’s mind is filled with evil thoughts, he suffers from EGO, depression, ignorance and sorrow. If one’s mind is filled with holy thoughts, he will be very cool, calm, contented, very self- satisfied and contented. Being spiritual simply means being zealous about the holy thoughts which fill one’s mind.

So, mind has only two thoughts:

Holy thoughts or,

Evil thoughts

Spiritual awakening, then, is an awakening of a dimension of reality beyond the confines of the ego. The ego is our exclusive sense of self or “I.”

This awakening occurs when, for whatever reason, the ego somehow let’s go so that a Higher Self or Spirit can arise within.

What is the Ego?

The ego, or what the Taoists call the lower soul, believes it’s in charge.

This ego is our sense of self or “I.” When you say things like:

“I am [your name].”

“I have a [profession, family, car, house and illnesses].”

“I think [insert a thought].”

That’s the ego. It’s possessive because it experiences itself as separate from everything else.

“The most common ego identifications have to do with possessions, the work you do, social status and recognition, knowledge and education, physical appearance, special abilities, relationships, personal and family history, belief systems, and often political, nationalistic, racial, religious, and other collective identifications. None of these is you.”

Spirituality is not merely going to a Gurdwara / temple once a week for an hour or so. Instead, according to the Gurbani, it’s remembering, acting, or living 24/7 in the Divine Consciousness or Shabad-Surrti “Twenty-four hours a day”.

The true Spirituality (the Gurmukh lifestyle) is to have constant Awareness and alertness in thoughts, words and deeds. It is supercool to be spiritual. Only a spiritual man really lives, loves and enjoys. Others die without living.

I remember a couplet by Farid on this and would like to mention it here. He says;

farida jaaganaa ee taan jaag, hoiaa ee parbhat

is jaagan noo pachhtaayengaa ghanaa savenga raat

This is the only time when awakening is possible. The dawn is right Now. Avail the great opportunity or remain a loser.

Farid says that you have anyway been sleeping since a really long time. You will have ample time to sleep after death as well. When do you think you would wake up?

What is sleep? To not to know your Self is sleep. To remain conditioned, identified and dream-bound is sleep. To think of yourself as a body born in a society is sleep.

Wake up!

To be spiritually awakened means not be ignorant about yourself.

Spirituality is realization of the true nature of self, awareness about the relationship of self with god and depending on god to guide you on the path to attain him. The journey to reveal life’s truths and the process of finding love in all of life.

Spirituality is knowing about unknown Consciousness and God. According to me spirituality is getting closer and closer to the reality of our being and finally meeting the supreme soul, i.e. almighty GOD. Getting enlightened that any physical thing is just ‘maya’ which keeps us revolving around hollow worldly pleasures and keeps us away from establishing a connection with GOD.

Spirituality is one’s own spirit and experience reaching out from inside.

Spirituality is a connection with the vast unknown realms of your inner mind to project a wisdom out into the outer world about the state of reality to realize we are all a part of something greater, a piece of an interconnected existence, stretching out into infinity.

Most people think that spirituality is just another belief system. This common belief couldn’t be far from the truth, spirituality has nothing to do with belief at all.

Spirituality is a mindfulness and awakened state of mind, it is a way of living without shutting off the spiritual side. it consists of Meditation, which is a practice where one sits still and enjoys a quiet moment of peace alone. Also, recitation, Astral Projection, law of attraction, law of manifestation, law of creation…to sum it all up, Spirituality is a mindfulness and awakened state of mind where one has full control of his/her life and Spiritual awakening is the realization that you are spirit, essence or reality.

Most of us, if not all of us grow up believing we are this and/or that, meaning we believe we are the person or the body and our mind and thoughts. We have come to this conclusion by believing our senses which are misleading.

In other words we believe prior to awakening that the person is our self, yet this person is just an image in our head that we have given a name and purpose and assigned likes and dislikes to.

At one point in our life something else dawns on us. We become aware of an observer. For if we can perceive the body or the mind…who or what is perceiving this? That is when some of us start seeking deeper and others snap back into the illusion and block this awareness.

Those that go on to seeking a deeper meaning or knowledge of the observer find at the “end” that they are neither the person nor are there two but one is only the Self. THAT which is presence and present only. THAT which never changes, but is solid and whole or what some call Spirit. This is a realization. It is not something you become or something you can do to make it happen other than to seek a deeper understanding of who you truly are.

Realizing that besides your physical body and mind, you are a soul which is eternal. This soul is inter-connected to the Supreme Almighty (we define this entity as God to simplify matters). Once you are in this awakened state you realize your soul has been through several past lives and will go through several others in the future.

According to me Spirituality is a broad concept with possibility for many perceptions. In general, it includes a sense of connection to something higher than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life.
