Live in the Present moment

Live in the Present Moment

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Our suffering is the result of our memories of the past and our desires, cravings, and expectation and imagination for the future, so if we do not live in the present we will invite unnecessary worries and problems for themselves and suffer, but when you live in the present moment, all problems vanish.

To live in the present moment, you have to focus on your current activity and let go every other thought from your mind. Your mind will keep on trying to disturb you. If any thoughts arise in your mind, that are not related to the present moment, remove them completely from your mind. Don’t give them any attention.  But you must stay firm and actively re-engage yourself with the current activity.

The present moment is the only moment that you have. You cannot control the future. You cannot change the past. But you can control this moment that’s happening right now.

Our mind has been habituated to think about our past and future all the time. Every time you become aware of its wandering, bring it back to the present moment. With practice, you will be able to control your mind from wandering aimlessly.

When you start living in the present moment, there are no regrets of the past and no worries for the future. You are totally immersed in life at this moment and live your life to the fullest. The future would never be exactly as you imagined it. Knowing this will help you when you practice residing in the present.

When you find yourself desiring for something you don’t have, or wishing your life would be different, start your quest for your dream by being thankful for what is already in your life. This will bring you back to the present moment. You don’t want to miss the gifts right in front of you because you are always looking beyond what is in the current moment to what once was or what might be. If you are thankful for what is, you’ll be happy to be at the moment – instead of dreaming about being happier someplace else. The moment a person thinks, he recalls his experience. He will never know the present. Being conscious or being aware is the only way to understand the present.

You have first to start by living in the present moment. Worrying too much about your past and future won’t solve your problem. Taking actions in the present moment will.
